Although innovation has never been a defining trait of the real estate sector, the arrival of a new breed of players has unleashed a revolution, that is breathing new life into the market’s value chain in the shape of technological solutions of all sorts and kinds: from the modernization of real estate marketplaces, and blockchain-based home buying and selling solutions, new construction and property management software, virtual and augmented reality technologies to enhance property brokerage services, home automation, IoT devices or the leveraging of big data and geolocation.

PropTech is transforming the real estate market. SMS Assist gradually conquers the property management; TenX, OpenDoor and PurpleBricks are showing success in real estate sales; VTS - in commercial real estate; Habiteo - in real estate development. Some "newcomers" intend to replace agencies, the others seek to become intermediaries or technology suppliers for them.
Startups are using different technologies and innovations - room.ai uses AI, Ubitquity - blockchain, Matterport and Datrix - virtual and augmented reality, and Create.io - data visualization. The others use 3D printing, big data and the IoT.

Tomorrow many promising startups will come out of the shadows and fight for a place in the real estate market, offering tools to help real estate professionals improve their services or increase productivity, or seek to replace them.
